Welcome to the Melbourne Law School Student Centre
The new Melbourne Law School Student Centre is located on the mezzanine floor, at the top of the stairs leading from the main law school entrance. The Centre provides services to both LLB and incoming JD students. Masters students (including 2006/2007 commencing JD students) and graduate research students will continue to be served by the administrative centre on the sixth floor and the Office for Research respectively, although in time the Student Centre will provide some transactional services for them as well. The Manager of the Student Centre in 2008 is Anthony Manahan.
The Current Students pages on the JD website contains important information relevant to your studies and is a useful point of reference. Students are encouraged to regularly check this resource for details including:
- Guest Lecture Series, Semester 2, 2008 Program

The Student Centre has been conceived and designed as part of the new Melbourne Student Services Model. It is thus committed to an approach that is student-centred and service oriented: accessible, helpful, friendly and fair. Consistently with this approach, the Student Centre premises have been completely refurbished. The Centre has a welcoming and consistently serviced front counter; it is established in a light and open space; and recent innovations include a plasma screen to give students quick and easy notice of events taking place in the Law School and other important matters.
Services offered by the Student Centre will include all services generally offered at Faculty level (including for example reenrolment, collection of course materials, return of assignments) and will gradually extend to include additional services previously provided by the University administration (including ID cards, academic transcripts and fee receipt). The Student Centre will also act as a referral point for the Law School's Office for Teaching and Learning and the Career's Office and to other student services offered by the University, including counselling, health, sports and recreational facilities. The services provided by the Law School will be consistent with those offered across the university, while being adapted to the particular circumstances of the discipline of law and to the sometimes quite distinct needs of the two groups of students who use the Centre. Students will be notified as the Student Centre expands its services during the course of 2008.
The Law School understands that the quality of administration is an integral part of the quality of each student's experience in the School. The Student Centre aims to provide services of the highest quality, which balance the often competing demands of flexibility, consistency and equity, in a way that always is helpful and professional. The Centre welcomes feedback from students and staff and suggestions for further improvement.
