Scholarships for International Students
Australian Federation of University Women (AFUW)
The scholarship listed below is offered only to female students who are enrolled at Victorian universities. Applicants are asked to demonstrate that they are or have been experiencing disadvantage in the pursuit of their studies. Students must be enrolled in the Melbourne JD at the time of application.
South Australian Branch - Heather Latz Bursary
Up to $4,000 each for women of any nationality. More details.
Arno Herpe Bequest
For indigenous people from the South Pacific area (including Australia and New Zealand) who can demonstrate financial need and academic success. Students must be enrolled in the JD at the time of application. More details.
Australian Development Scholarships
For people from participating ADS countries; eligibility subject to general and country-specific criteria. More details.
Australian Leadership Awards
Up to $150,000 over two years for high achievers from the Asia Pacific region. Students must have already applied and gained admission to the Melbourne JD at the time of application. More details.
Endeavour Postgraduate Awards
Travel and establishment allowances, a monthly stipend and tuition fees for up to 3 years, for high-achieving international students from participating countries. Students must have already applied and gained admission to the Melbourne JD at the time of application. More details.
German Academic Exchange Service
Funding for German students is available through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Institut Ranke-Heinemann. Visit their websites for details.
Human Rights Scholarship
Living allowance and relocation grant for students who are able to demonstrate a commitment to the peaceful advancement of respect for human rights that extends beyond their academic studies (such as voluntary work and/or work experience). Commencing and continuing students are welcome to apply. Applicants should also show academic merit. More details.
International Postgraduate Coursework Awards
25% to 100% of tuition fees for the duration of the degree, for international students who are new to the University of Melbourne. Students are automatically considered for the award when they apply for admission to the JD. More details.
Melbourne Law School Scholarships and Prizes
Melbourne Law School offers a number of prestigious scholarships each year to suitably qualified candidates. Several prizes and awards that recognise outstanding academic achievement in the Melbourne JD program are also available. More details.
New Generation International Graduate Awards
$10,000 in the first year of enrolment for students who have completed their final year of an undergraduate course at the University of Melbourne in 2008. Students are automatically considered for the award when they apply for admission to the JD. More details.
Polish Student Awards
$300 to $1000 for students who are of Polish origin (parents or grandparents), of high academic merit, are currently enrolled in the Melbourne JD and are Victorian residents. More details.
Student Published Research Prize
The Student Published Research Prize is awarded annually for outstanding pieces of writing published by students of the Melbourne Law School.
There are two prizes of $1,000 each - one to be awarded to an undergraduate law student and the other to be awarded to a postgraduate law student. More details.
