Michelle Sharpe is both a barrister and an academic. Michelle was first admitted to practice in 1999 in South Australia and signed the Victorian Bar Roll in 2002. At the Bar Michelle practices in the area of commercial law specialising in Contract and Trade Practices law. Michelle has also been an elected member of the Victorian Bar Council and Assistant Convener of the Women Barristers Association since 2007.
Michelle completed her Arts and Law degrees at the University of Adelaide, graduating from the latter with first class honours. Michelle holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne, her thesis, entitled “Freedom and Fairness: a Republican Theory of Contract Law”, offers an alternative theoretical justification for the doctrines of duress, undue influence and unconscionable conduct.
Michelle has taught in the subjects of Contract, Civil Procedure, Dispute Resolution and Legal Ethics.
